About Bisset House Press

Bisset House Press was founded out of necessity to begin with, but quickly developed into the desire to simply share our tales with the world beyond our cliffs. We are a private publishing house meant only for the Island of Faodail, and we publish citizen stories and histories. This is our way of sharing our island with the rest of Earth. We hope to inspire and delight, alongside creating curiosity and wonder for our little isle.

The House is named after the first historical recorder on the island, Guillaume Bisset. He is the ancestor of Lorena Bisset, our Archivist and the face of the company. In 1740, Bisset was asked by our founder Angus MacAskill to start keeping a log of important events and dates. These included when buildings started construction and finished, when babies in the small settlement were born, and when weddings were held. Only a few deaths occurred that first year, but they were recorded just the same. Bisset’s position was passed down to his children and grandchildren for generations, and then for some time a different family took over. When Lorena moved to Faodail in 2015, she was unaware of her family’s history but ended up doing the same job as her ancestor over the next few years. Since then, she’s been sought out by countless citizens hoping to have their tales recorded, ranging from full biographies to just a few month’s time that were important. As such, she is the main author of Bisset House Press.

The company is jointly run by Lorena and Vincent D’Avranches, Lorena handling customer and follower-facing duties, with Vincent handling the back end such as budgets, day-to-day operations, and contracts with artists and our editor. Vincent was born and raised on Faodail, and as a recent college graduate, he is thrilled to be diving into a field that he’s always held dear.

As you peruse our titles, webpage, and social media, we hope your curiosity for Faodail grows and leads you down a path of discovery and wonder.

We know there will be questions, but please trust us when we say all will be answered in the end.
